o Allow plenty of time to reach the theme parks each morning. It’s easy to miss your breakfast reservations if you don’t allocate enough time.

o Be spontaneous. If something catches your eye, even if it’s not on your daily list of things to do, stop and explore. If not, you could miss something wonderful.

o Realize the limitations of your children. If they’re tired, take a break. If their feet hurt, get them a stroller (forget that they outgrew one years ago). If a ride scares them don’t force the issue. Such precautions will make your day and the day of other park visitors a lot less stressful.

o Bring pagers, 2-way radios, or cell phones. If your party plans on splitting up, they are a perfect way to keep in touch.

o Wear broken-in, comfortable footwear. Better yet, bring two pairs and rotate them. Nothing is worse than blisters on your first day and then nursing them for the remainder of your vacation.

o Most importantly, slow down and enjoy the magic. Resist the urge to see everything at breakneck speed. You can’t possibly cover it all, so think of this as your first trip to Disney, not your last. There will be time to pick up all the things you missed on the next go-round.

The Dusit Thani Laguna came to us highly recommended by friends who have already stayed there. So while searching for Phuket Luxury hotels, I did not miss a beat and booked myself in Dusit Thani Laguna when I visited Phuket. I stayed in the Dusit Club room. They provide a buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and unlimited cocktails in the bar. The staff members are courteous and very helpful.

There are rooms that look over the expansive waters of the lagoon. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bathrooms are slick and modern looking. The air conditioning is top notch. The minibar in the room is a nice effect and is always well stocked.

The food is fresh and tasty. You can choose a lobster from a tank and the chef will cook it for you. The lobster dishes are excellent. Wine can be a tad expensive. I loved this hotel and definitely visit again.

Summer Family Holiday

South India is a beautiful holiday destination spot. Lovely clean beaches and a great mix of cultures and diversities mark this “God’s Own Country”.

We begin our journey, direction towards south by road (though its well associated by rail as well). You can hang about a couple of days at Ganapatipule or Tarkali. Both are simply accessible during train and road via Mumbai.

Accommodation is quiet inexpensive here. Especially in the MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) hotels, and can be booked in advance through their individual websites. You can take pleasure in the clean beaches here or visit the wonderful historic forts that dot the place.

Moving further south, you will land in the one of the most famous holidays spots in India, Goa. Goa has some great food and you can laze on the sun beds sipping on a pint of beer or a glass of fresh fruit juice. I stayed at the Club Mahindra Resort, as I was out with my family and it was a lovely stay there.

Further you can move your trip towards Gokarna Beach which is often called “Jannat” (meaning heaven) spending some days there.

And finally, you arrive at Kerala. The backwaters are really a great retreat and are definitely one of the places you have to visit before you die. This is one of my favourite place which I thought I shoult submit and yes, I do have many more…which I will be submitting in another part of the articles.

On the whole it was a great “summer family holiday”!
